Balance the finished rig
The counterbalance is fixed, so balance comes from the slide plate. Fit the monitor, battery and light first, such as a Lilliput A7S 7-inch field monitor on a Dynacore DV-6S NP-F970-style battery and a SWIT S-2070 on-camera LED light, then slide the plate until the camera rests level.
Level the ball, not the legs
Loosen the ball clamp, centre the bubble and lock it. Leg lengths can differ a little.

Drag is fixed, so your hand sets the speed. Run the move once before recording.
