Yes. A passive splitter only divides the signal, so each copy arrives weaker; this unit drives and re-clocks all eight outputs.
Why does a re-clocking SDI distribution amplifier matter?
It rebuilds the signal's timing on every output instead of passing on jitter from the input, which leaves more margin on long BNC runs to a stage or OB van.
Can I use my monitor's SDI loop-out instead?
