The Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K is a low profile PCIe playback card that sends video out of an edit workstation to a broadcast monitor over 6G-SDI and HDMI 2.0a, at up to 2160p30. It is an output-only device built for colour-accurate reference monitoring in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer — it does not capture or record. Playback না Capture? DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K কী করে

This card outputs video and nothing else. যদি আপনার কাজ হয় camera, switcher বা deck থেকে signal computer এ নেওয়া, তাহলে এই card নয় — আপনার লাগবে DeckLink Mini Recorder 4K, যেটা এই card এর হুবহু mirror: একই 6G-SDI আর HDMI 2.0a connector, কিন্তু input হিসেবে।

Installation and Driver Setup for the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K

This section covers the whole path, in order.

Physical installation

Power the machine down completely and unplug it at the wall before opening the case. Handle the card by its edges and its bracket; the fan and the heatsink are not handles. Seat it in a PCI Express slot with at least four lanes — x4, x8 and x16 slots all accept it — and press until the retention clip closes, then fix the bracket screw. There is no auxiliary power connector: the card draws roughly 10 W from the slot itself.

Blackmagic includes PCI Express shields for both full height and low profile slots. Install করার আগে আপনার chassis এর height অনুযায়ী (full height, অথবা low profile বা slim case) সঠিক bracket টা লাগিয়ে নিন।

Driver setup — Blackmagic Desktop Video

The card does nothing until the Blackmagic Desktop Video package is installed. It is a free download from the manufacturer’s own support site, and it covers macOS, Windows and Linux from the same family of installers. Install it, restart the machine, then open Desktop Video Setup. If the card’s firmware is older than the driver you just installed, Setup will offer to update it — run that update and restart again before testing.

Installing the driver does not on its own redirect playback. Each application has to be pointed at the card: enable the DeckLink device in DaVinci Resolve’s video and audio I/O preferences, switch the playback device on Premiere Pro’s Playback preference pane, or turn on A/V output in Final Cut Pro. একটায় enable করলে বাকিগুলোয় হয় না — প্রতিটা application এ আলাদা করে set করতে হবে।

If the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K is not detected or not working

Work through this in order before you make a support call.

• Desktop Video missing or broken. A major OS update can leave the driver in place but non-functional. Reinstall the current package and restart.
• Card not fully seated. Power down, unplug, remove and reseat until the retention clip audibly closes. Partial seating gives intermittent detection, which is worse than none.
• Slot running at x1. A physically long slot can be electrically narrow, and populating an M.2 drive can steal lanes from it. Move the card to a chipset-driven x4 or wider slot.
• Firmware older than the driver. Open Desktop Video Setup and run the update it offers, then restart.
• Application still pointing elsewhere. The card can be detected by the system and still unused, because the NLE is sending playback to another device. Re-select it in preferences.
• Monitor will not lock to the signal. Confirm the display accepts the format you are outputting, check SDI level A versus level B on 3G links, and try a 1080p25 timeline. If HD locks and 2160p30 does not, the fault is downstream in the cable, monitor or converter.
• One output silent, the other fine. Both SDI and HDMI are live simultaneously, so a single dead output points at that cable or that display, not at the card.

How to Use the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K

Colour grading. The GUI window in DaVinci Resolve is not a grading reference — it is colour-managed by the operating system and the desktop display. Feed a calibrated monitor over the SDI output instead. The Lilliput 10.1" A11 4K HDMI & 3G-SDI monitor takes either of the card’s two outputs, which makes it a straightforward pairing for a small suite.

Client review and editorial. Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer hand playback to the card, so reviews run on broadcast-legal video with 16-channel embedded audio on the same cable — no separate audio run to the monitor.

Playout into a live chain. Roll VT inserts, stings and packages from the workstation straight into an SDI switcher. To land the same feed on several monitors around a studio, split it with a Mini Converter SDI Distribution 4K rather than daisy-chaining displays.

Multi-channel work. One card handles one output. If a job needs four independent SDI channels, the DeckLink Duo 2 assigns each of its four BNCs to capture or playback independently — at HD, not 4K.

Care and Storage

• Hold the card by its bracket and PCB edges. Ground yourself before handling — an anti-static wrist strap or a touch on the bare chassis is enough.
• Keep it in its anti-static bag whenever it is out of the machine, not loose in a drawer or a camera bag.
• Dhaka এর humidity তে দীর্ঘদিন খুলে রাখলে silica gel সহ sealed box এ রাখুন — corrosion মূলত edge connector আর BNC তে ধরে।
• Blow dust off the fan and heatsink periodically. The card is rated 5–40 °C and a clogged fan is the fastest way to the top of that range.
• Do not mount it flush against a GPU exhaust. একটা slot gap রাখলে temperature অনেকটাই নামে।
• Screw the bracket down. একটা loose card slot এ নড়াচড়া করে, আর তাতে card হঠাৎ detect না হতে পারে।

What is the maximum resolution of the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K?

Ultra HD at 2160p29.97 / 2160p30 over a single 6G-SDI link, and DCI 4K up to 25p. It also outputs HD and SD, and the SDI output switches standard automatically as the timeline format changes. Colour runs at 8/10-bit YUV 4:2:2, or up to 12-bit RGB 4:4:4 at 1080p60.

DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K কি Mac এ চলবে?

Yes. It carries HDR static metadata packing with both HLG and PQ, over the SDI output and the HDMI 2.0a output. The metadata travels with the signal, so a compatible HDR monitor switches itself into the right mode without a separate converter in the chain.

Does the DeckLink Mini Monitor 4K work with OBS as a capture source?

No — and this is worth being blunt about. OBS looks for capture sources, and this card has no inputs, so it will not appear as one. To bring an SDI or HDMI feed into OBS you need a capture device such as the Mini Recorder 4K, or a card that does both directions like the DeckLink SDI 4K.
